Car make, model and year dataset (CSV)

If you need a make → model → year list for a form, a marketplace or analysis, a plain list gets you started; a list with specs lets you show and filter by power, fuel and size. CarsDataset is both: 47,344 rows, 108 brands, model years 1898–2026.

The columns

Every row is a variant (a specific engine and trim of a model in a model year). The first columns give you the make/model/year hierarchy; the rest are specifications:

brand, model, year, variant_name, trim, body_type, fuel_type, power_hp, power_kw, torque_nm, transmission_type, drive_type, dimensions, weight, performance, fuel consumption, CO₂, flags and features (39 in total).

All 108 brands with counts are on the makes page.

Building a make → model → year dropdown

  1. Distinct brand values for the first list.
  2. Distinct model for the chosen brand, ordered by variant count or name.
  3. Distinct year for brand + model, newest first.
  4. Optionally a fourth step with variant_name (engine and power) to identify the exact car.

The import guide has the SQL for each step.

Good to know before you buy

  • Model names are kept as published by the source. For some makes, older trims appear as separate model names, so plan a small mapping table if you need strictly clean model families.
  • Coverage is strongest for European-market cars from 2010 on (34,850 variants). US-only models are less complete.
  • Fill rates: power 99.7%, dimensions 94.8%, combined fuel consumption 76.0%, CO₂ 69.5%, equipment lists 39.5%.
  • The file is a one-time purchase ($499) with two quarterly refreshes in the first six months.
